York’s Best Dog Friendly Cafes
York is a city that combines historic architecture and beautiful aged castle walls with a bohemian and modern vibrancy. Nowhere is this hip energy more evident than the cafes and coffee shops within the city. Thankfully, York is abound with dog friendly cafes that you can visit with your faithful pooch. There are many of them, and so many that we loved visiting. Here, we pick out just a few of our favourites, but it’s always worth browsing Bring The Pooch’s York pages to find even more.
FortyFive Vinyl
These guys do three things, and do them all really well: coffee, tunes, and toasties. Founded by members of the band The Family Ruin who have a penchant for good music and good cafe grub, the team opened their doors in 2017 and have rapidly become a favourite among locals. They’ve got a whole menu dedicated to the humble grilled cheese sandwich, with options ranging from the classic to some really out there creations. Our fave has to be the bacon and peanut butter combo. Oh, and there’s a huge range of vinyl on offer too for music lovers.
Bean & Gone
Plenty of great coffee in every form imaginable! Long blacks, espressos, Americanos, lattes and more are all available here. They also serve some good quality classic cafe food, from the beloved bacon sandwich for breakfast to some tasty sweet treats and cakes for later on in the day. These guys are super lovely to your dog too, so well worth a visit.
Perky Peacock
Look guys, if cafes get any cooler than being situated inside a converted Medieval castle tower then we haven’t experienced it yet. This is such an amazing space that it’s worth visiting for that alone. That being said, there’s plenty more to The Perky Peacock, which has banging coffee and awesome food. Trust us, try a cinnamon bagel. A lovely and unique place to visit with your dog.
Homestead Park Reading Cafe
An outdoor cafe in the middle of the beautiful Homestead Park. Absolutely ideal for when you’re out in the summer months playing fetch and running about with your dog. They’ve got a lovely little sheltered area, which is ideal whether it’s rain or shine outside. They also pride themselves in locally sourced food and drinks too. Oh, and they have that all important summery treat… ice cream.
Lucky Days
With multiple locations around York, Lucky Days has steadily grown into something of a cafe institution in and around the city. They are well known for great cafe food like soups and paninis, and for wonderful and eclectic decor within the cafe. A lovely and spacious set of cafes that love dogs.
