Best Dog Friendly Cafes in Chichester

We adore the city of Chichester — a traditional Cathedral city with a warm and friendly ambience. To the south you have the stunning West Wittering beach, and to the North you have the South Downs for countryside walks — both locations loved by dogs. When you’re stopping in the city, there are plenty of spots to grab a coffee when you’re with your dog. Here are a few of our favourite dog friendly cafes in Chichester.

The Quarterdeck Cafe

Okay, so we’ve sort of cheated here because The Quarterdeck Cafe is based a short drive out of the centre of Chichester in the picturesque harbour area of West Itchenor village. But it’s a must-visit whenever we’re in the area for just being so dog friendly and fantastic. Make sure you stop by and say hello to Jack, the resident rescue dog who lives at The Quarterdeck Cafe.

Cafe Paradiso

A lovely central cafe in Chichester that’s renowned for its fantastic vegetarian fare. There are plenty of light bites from vegan sausage rolls and veggie quiches to lovely sweet treats. Their Belgian Buns are a favourite for us. In the summer months, they open up the outside seating area and dogs just love lazing about on the grass out there.

Boston Tea Party

A lovely and spacious cafe on Baffins Lane. There’s a big focus on sustainable ingredients at the Boston Tea Party, which makes it a hit for us! Our favourite time to visit there is first thing in the morning, when you can grab one of their amazing breakfasts. They’re both very dog friendly and very child friendly too, making it a perfect spot for Chichester families.

Wellies Tea Rooms

It’s a short trek outside of Chichester (about a mile from the North West corner of the city), but Wellies Tea Rooms is very worth it. Sitting on the fantastic and dog friendly Oldwick Farm, Wellies Tea Rooms is a truly rustic affair, serving up quality British cafe classics using produce and ingredients sourced from the farm itself. Ideal for a dog walk in summer, with a pitstop at some point in the Wellies Tea Rooms outside seating area. The Welsh rarebit is divine!

Can I just 2nd your recommendation for Wellies Tea Rooms… it’s SO nice to have a full family day out there with kids and dogs having plenty of fun. We love spending time roaming the countryside near by and then stopping off at the cafe. You can really taste the freshness of the food. And the staff are so very lovely too! The picture of cakes has my mouth drooling.

Chichester is my favourite local city (I live in Worthing) and this just made our recent visit SO much more fun as I had my two dogs with me. Did you know they have made Chichester cathedral dog friendly now too? HOW COOL IS THAT!
