Named after Thomas Paine's iconic book, written during the French Revolution. Thomas Paine resided in Lewes during the earlier portion of his life, and this pub pays homage to that.

Onto the matter at hand though – the pub is renowned for high quality food, locally sourced, and is thus a great place to visit. It's extremely dog friendly, meaning you and your dog will feel more than welcome here. Be sure to try out some of the local beers and ales on tap whilst you're here, including Lewes' famous Harvey's Brewery ales.
