Based a little outside of Tunbridge Wells itself and in Speldhurst, The George & Dragon is highly, highly worth travelling out for. This stunning inn was first built in the 1200s, and proudly retains its heritage and history with roaring log fires blazing in the winter and dramatic oak beans adorning the ceilings. Today, it's renowned for being a great place to get a fantastic gastropub meal. Expect plenty of classics like beer-battered cod and bangers and mash, as well as a few of their own recipes – we saw hoisin duck salad, tandoori sea bream, and risotto verde. All great stuff, and the place is surrounded by great walks to take your dog on too.
