Bring The Pooch's verdict

Whilst we're not sure why this pub is named after an 1800s politician, we can verify that it's a great place to grab a pint whilst you're with your dog. This is a classic street corner pub, and has been running for the best part of 150 years, first opening in 1868. You can grab a local ale and admire some of the local history from here, or just kick back and unwind in the lovely beer garden. The pub is also famous for its Morris Dancers who perform on occasion, including on New Years Day.

My local. Nice little pub and lots of friendly folk here. Drinks selection is good – mix of classic lagers and ales. Typically take my labrador when I go.
